Helena Christensen says beauty is about being true to yourself.

The 42-year-old supermodel - who is regarded as one of the world's most attractive women - believes both personality and looks are important when it comes to being beautiful.

She told VogueTV: "I always loved the style of Jean Seberg, Jane Birkin and Marilyn Monroe. A beautiful person is someone who stays true to themselves and their spirit; someone who is self-confident and can make you smile."

Helena also revealed how she feels "fortunate" she started out in The Fashion industry when she did because there was less pressure on the models in the early 90s and always looks back on her career with fond memories.

She said: "There will always be a desire for something new, fresh and innovative, as well as there'll be a yearning and respect for timeless elegance and beauty. I was fortunate to start working at a time when the girls were allowed to just be themselves. No one told us to change our bodies or our looks. Everyone was unique in their own way.

"I honestly feel like my entire career is one long memorable moment. It has been such an intense, crazy, surreal Journey and it still feels that way. As long as I'm inspired and feel challenged and as long as the people I work with feel the same way working with me, then I guess I'll stick around."
