Much-loved Irish TV personality ANNE GREGG has died of cancer. She was 66. Gregg, who passed away on Tuesday (05SEP06), is hailed as one of the first TV stars from Northern Ireland to capture hearts across of the whole of the UK on holiday programmes including PLACES APART and HOLIDAY. Fellow presenter GLORIA HUNNIFORD, who worked with Gregg at Ulster Television, says, "I used to love it when I heard her doing reports about Northern Ireland and speaking so happily of it. I think she was very proud of her roots. "But probably the reason why we all haven't been so aware of late that she was ill - and I wasn't aware she was as ill as she obviously was - is I think she was one of those sophisticated but private people."
