The Australian soap actress, pop star and Strictly Come Dancing contestant Holly Valance has accepted a marriage proposal from her billionaire boyfriend Nick Candy, according to a report from The Press Association today (December 23, 2011). The pair have been dating since 2009, when they met at a dinner party hosted by a mutual friend.
Holly Valance first found fame when she landed a part in the popular Australian TV series Neighbours, playing the role of Felicity 'Flick' Scully. She worked on the show between 1999 and 2002, when she left to pursue a music career. She gained a certain amount of popularity in the UK as well as in Australia, most notably with her single 'Kiss Kiss' which hit the top of the charts in the United Kingdom. She returned to acting in 2006 and in 2011 and was selected to appear on the celebrity dancing contest, Strictly Come Dancing. Valance was a popular contestant but eventually came fourth; beaten by Jason Donovan, Chelsee Healey and Harry Judd. Nick Candy is a property tycoon who, along with his brother, Christian Candy is responsible for the prestigious property development, One Hyde Park.
According to the report, the couple spent the weekend in Blackpool for the 'Strictly' finale before Candy took her away for Christmas, where he proposed to her, with a fire-lit string of words reading "will you marry me?" The former soap star Tweeted a picture of the moment he proposed accompanied by the words "and I said Yes!!!"
