Howard Stern says he "felt like such a failure" after his divorce from wife Alison Berns in 2001.
Howard Stern, the American DJ and radio personality, has spoken in-depth about how he coped with his divorce from wife Alison Berns.Stern had three daughters with Bern during their 20 years of marriage and he says he struggled to explain the separation to his children. In an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, the DJ revealed, "My marriage ending blew my mind. I was upset that I failed, let down my family, my kids, my ex-wife; it all was very painful. Getting a divorce felt like such a failure. It's so complicated, and it's hard for me even to figure out at this point what went wrong and how things that were so good could go so bad. It's tough. I think I'll spend the rest of my life trying to analyze that". The 57-year-old eventually turned to religion to make sense of the divorce, but the 'shock jock' admits he initially used women as means of escape, saying, "I was running around, picking up women. I realized, Oh, wow, I can go have sex".
Howard Stern recently signed a new five-year multi-million dollar contract to stay on at Sirius Satellite Radio. The 57-year-old ended months of speculation concerning his future by penning the deal that will see him continue his hugely popular morning show.
