Howard Stern has joined 'America's Got Talent' as a judge.

The shock jock will join Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel on the panel of Simon Cowell's variety show for season 7.

In a statement, NBC's Paul Telegdy said: "Howard Stern's larger-than-life personality will bring a thrilling new dynamic to 'America's Got Talent' starting this summer. He's a proven innovator and his track record in broadcasting is truly remarkable. Howard is very passionate about this show and is fully committed to its future success."

Stern had been rumoured to be taking over from Piers Morgan since last month but he was reluctant to initially accept the offer because the live shows were filmed at CBS Television City in Los Angeles, while his Sirius XM radio show is broadcast from New York.

However, production of the live shows is being moved to the 'Big Apple' for the next run.

Initial auditions will be held in Austin, Charlotte and San Francisco in the coming weeks.
