American broadcaster Howard Stern decided to channel his energies into becoming an all-conquering radio DJ after being relentlessly bullied at school.

Stern, whose formative years as a high school nerd at New York City's Roosevelt High were documented in the biopic PRIVATE PARTS, used to suffer regular beatings at the hands of his schoolmates.

And Stern believes US radio listeners identify with his underdog experiences.

In a rare upcoming interview with respected US TV show 60 MINUTES, Stern says, "Some of us are misfits, some are outcasts and we can admit our insecurities and we can laugh about them and have a good time."
