A New York judge has postponed formal sentencing for a woman charged with stalking Hugh Jackman until next week (begs24Mar14).

California resident Katherine Thurston was released from jail on Wednesday (19Mar14) after striking a plea deal with prosecutors that would allow her to be sentenced to time served for attacking the actor with an electric razor as he worked out at a Manhattan gym last April (13).

The 46 year old, who had been in custody since her arrest shortly after the incident, was due to stand trial for counts of burglary, stalking and harassment, but she put an end to her legal troubles earlier this month (Mar14) by agreeing to plead guilty to the charges in exchange for her freedom and five years probation.

She returned to Manhattan Supreme Court to make the sentence official on Thursday (20Mar14), but the case had to be adjourned because she had yet to arrange her ticket for transportation back home to California.

Her lawyer hopes to have the travel plans finalised in time for the next hearing on Tuesday (25Mar14), reports the New York Daily News.

As part of the terms of Thurston's release, she must remain on her medication and stay away from Jackman, who lives in the Big Apple.
