Hugh Jackman is in talks for a role as Blackbeard in 'Pan'.

'The Wolverine' actor is reportedly being positioned as the villainous pirate in Warner Bros.' upcoming adaptation of children's classic 'Peter Pan', which will be helmed by director JOE WRIGHT and is set to hit the big-screen in June 2015.

Variety reports Jackman had been in discussions for a number of films before taking on 'Pan' and was approached by the studio shortly after the role was snubbed by Academy Award winner Javier Bardem.

The film will look into the origins of J. M. Barrie's classic character Peter Pan, an orphan who is taken to the magical world of Neverland where he goes into battle with the evil pirates and becomes a hero among the natives.

The fantasy epic will also explore the relationship between Pan and Hook, who begin as allies before becoming rivals, while Blackbeard is the main antagonist.

Ryan Gosling is among a string of actors who are being eyed for the role of Hook, while the studio is expected to hold open auditions to discover fresh talent for Peter Pan.

The studio is also looking for an actress in her mid-20s to play Tiger Lily.
