Elbow frontman Guy Garvey has tipped I Am Kloot to scoop the prestigious Mercury Prize on Tuesday night (07Sep10).
The British rockers took home the highly-regarded industry award in 2008 for their album The Seldom Seen Kid.
And singer/guitarist Garvey is backing I Am Kloot to win the honour this year (10) - he produced their shortlisted record, Sky At Night, and has a hunch his pals are set to emulate Elbow's success.
He says, "When the lads were nominated, independent of each other I spoke to them all individually on the phone to say, 'Come on!'. And individually they all said, very coolly, 'Yeah, they can't take that off us can they?' And that's exactly what Elbow said to each other when we were nominated.
"I spoke to (the band) about how important the Mercury Prize was to us... To win it, as I said on the night, was the best thing that had ever happened to us. Unbelievable."
