Snow Patrol played a ''unique'' gig in a whiskey distillery last night (21.06.12).

The 'Run' rockers played an intimate show in a distillery as part of Irish whiskey festival 'Bushmills Live', which drummer Jonny Quinn claims is one of their most memorable to date.

Jonny, 40, said: ''Last night was pretty special for us as a band. We have played many gigs at home before, but this one - in a whiskey distillery - was unique.''

The 'Chasing Cars' band headlined the two-day festival alongside actor Elijah Wood, who was DJ for 400 whiskey fans in the venue's Old Bushmill's Distillery.

Snow Patrol had been out of the spotlight for a period until their latest album, 'Fallen Empire', was released, partly due to singer Gary Lightbody suffering a severe case of writer's block.

Jonny says that's not going to happen again, as the band are now taking a mobile recording studio on the road with them.

He said: ''We were on the tour for two-and-a-half years and because we've done no recording during that time it's difficult to just pick it up again, we're gonna bring a little mobile studio and just keep the ideas going, even if they're just sketches, so that next time we start it's not this massive mountain to climb.''

Other artists at the festival - which is the first of its kind to take place in an Irish whiskey distillery - included Foy Vance, Iain Archer, The Staves, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Marcus Foster, General Fiasco and David C Clements.
