Animated family movie Ice Age: Continental Drift has cracked the U.S. box office chart and knocked SPIDER-MAN from number one.
The fourth installment of the prehistoric franchise, featuring the voices of Ray Romano, Denis Leary and Jennifer Lopez, grossed $46 million (£28.75 million) to open in pole position, ahead of Andrew Garfield's web-slinging performance in The Amazing Spider-Man.
The superhero film, another of Leary's projects, falls to second place with $35 million (£21.9 million) in its second week on release, while Mark Wahlberg comedy Ted takes third with additional earnings of $22.1 million (£13.8 million).
