Ken Jeong has joined the cast of 'Ride Along 2'.

'The Hangover' funny-man has signed up to star alongside original cast members Ice Cube and Kevin Hart in the upcoming cop comedy sequel, Variety reports.

Tim Story will return to direct the second instalment - which will again centre on security guard Ben Barber (Hart) and police officer James Payton (Ice Cube) - but it is so far unknown what role Jeong will take on.

Olivia Munn is also said to be in talks to join the comedy - the script for which is currently being written by Clash of the Titan's Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay - as a no-nonsense homicide detective and love interest of Ice Cube.

The rapper will produce alongside Matt Alvarez for CubeVision, Will Packer for Will Packer Productions and Larry Brezner.

Jeong recently wrapped on 'The Duff' opposite Mae Whitman and Bella Thorne, was last seen in 'Pain and Gain' and 'The Muppets' and provided the voice for characters in 'Despicable Me 2' and 'Turbo'.

The first 'Ride Along' film was released earlier this year and saw Ben try to prove himself to his girlfriend's brother James by accompanying him on a 24-hour police patrol in the city of Atlanta, Georgia.

'Ride Along 2' is slated for release on January 15 2016.
