Soul superstar Isaac Hayes has pulled out of the FUNK BROTHERS' European tour, citing "scheduling difficulties".

The WALK ON BY singer was named as one of two featured singers on the tour, which kicked off in Manchester, England, last night (29JAN04). STEVE WINWOOD remains the second singer.

Hayes has already been replaced by fellow soul great Billy Preston.

Winwood has no plans to follow Hayes' lead and quit because he has become a huge fan of the MOTOWN session musicians after watching their documentary Standing in the Shadows of Motown last year (03).

He says, "I was a big fan of this music for years and years, and particularly the musicians. Last year I saw the film and I found it quite intriguing, and loved seeing the musicians.

"Then, lo and behold, a couple of months ago I got the request to sing four or five songs with them on the European leg of their tour, which I was more than flattered and honoured to accept."
