American movie chief Jack Valenti has been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in recognition of his trailblazing work in the US film industry.

Valenti, 82, was accompanied by his friend and movie legend Kirk Douglas at Monday's (06DEC04) ceremony in Los Angeles.

Valenti is retiring from his position as president of the MOTION PICTURE ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (MPAA) and is best known for his work in implementing anti-piracy and copyright protection laws.
