Johnny Depp has confirmed his engagement to Amber Heard.

The 50-year-old actor showed off a diamond engagement ring during a promotional tour of his latest movie 'Transcendence', and laughed off questions about his marital status by pointing out that his bling wasn't ''very subtle''.

Asked whether he was engaged, Johnny quipped: ''The fact that I'm wearing a chick's ring on my finger is probably a dead giveaway. Not very subtle.''

The star first met Amber on the set of 'The Rum Diary' in 2011 and a year later separated from his partner of 14 years, French actress Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has children Lily-Rose, 14, and Jack, 11.

And Johnny admitted he will definitely be leaving planning their nuptials to 27-year-old actress Amber.

He added: ''I think that I would be better at making women's shoes than I would be at wedding planning, I can't plan anything. I'm really bad at that stuff.''

Johnny and Amber were first reported to be engaged in January, and it has been claimed the actor proposed in the run-up to Christmas.
