COLLATERAL star Jada Pinkett Smith once tried to have Rosie Perez ousted from her job on classic US comedy series IN LIVING COLOR so that she could take her place.

When the stunning actress was 17-years-old, she was thrilled to learn that an aunt of hers was good friends with In Living Color star and series creator Keenan Ivory Wayans.

But her attempts to steal Perez's job of choreographing dance troupe the FLY GIRLS - which included a young JENNIFER LOPEZ - fell flat.

Pinkett Smith says, "I really tried to get Keenan to put me on In Living Color. I was like, 'You don't need Rosie Perez! I can choreograph, I can dance I can do all of that.'

"I auditioned for him in his living room and he told me get an agent and keep trying... I had to take my shot. I was like, 'Look, I'm here with Keenan Ivory Wayans, I can be a fly girl, I can make it happen, put me on your show.' And it never happened. His loss!"
