Jake Gyllenhaal has sold his house for over $3 million.

The 'Nightcrawler' actor has made a profit of nearly $1 million after selling the gated compound in California's Hollywood Hills for $3,262,500 after splashing out $2.5 million on the property in 2005, the Los Angeles Times newspaper reports.

The single-story home was built in 1948 and has nearly two acres of land, a swimming pool, detached office and canyon, mountain and cityscape views.

The 33-year-old star's former home includes a central hall, a den, a family room, three bedrooms and three bathrooms and was previously owned by Michael 'Flea' Balzary of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Meanwhile, Zachary Quinto - who is best known for playing Spock in the latest 'Star Trek' movies - has sold his home in Los Feliz for $1,278,600 after listing it at $1,165,000 in September.

The property, which Zachary bought for $865,000 in 2008, is described as having a ''loft-like vibe'' with an open floor plan and features a living room, den, three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The single-story house was also built in 1948 and was sold by Sotheby's International Realty.
