Country singer Jake Owen has returned to the stage for the first time since undergoing surgery for a broken collar bone.
The Alone With You hitmaker was snowboarding in Crested Butte, Colorado last month (Jan12) when he hit an ice block and was seriously injured. He was taken to a hospital and then flown back to his native Nashville, Tennessee, where he was subsequently forced to postpone a number of upcoming shows while he healed.
But Owen has made a speedy recovery and he played for a sold-out crowd in Dallas, Texas on Friday (03Feb12) and another packed house in Norman, Oklahoma the following night (04Feb12).
He tells TasteofCountry.com, "I’m thrilled to be back out on the road. And to have a sold-out shows our first weekend back is such an awesome feeling."
And the musician admits he's glad to be out of the house: "I’m not very good at sitting around the house taking it easy. I had eight screws and a metal plate put in to repair my collarbone, so I’ve had to spend a lot of time at doctor’s appointments and physical therapy sessions over the past few weeks. Getting back out onstage was the best therapy I’ve had."
