DANIEL CRAIG showed little interest in the James Bond movies during their 1970s heyday - his mother says he was more interested in high brow theatre.

Craig, who was named as Pierce Brosnan's successor last week (14OCT05) following a protracted selection process, will make his debut as the suave superspy in Casino Royale next year (06).

But the 37-year-old's mother CAROL admits playing 007 was not one of her son's childhood ambitions: "Most boys in the 1970s were really into Bond but (Daniel) wasn't... He was more into theatre."
