Soul superstar James Brown's name has been dropped from the title of a music festival in his home town of Augusta, Georgia, after his arrested on a domestic violence charge.

Members of the Greater Augusta Arts Council are looking for a new moniker for this year's (04) JAMES BROWN MUSIC FESTIVAL after announcing the Godfather OF SOUL is no longer a suitable figurehead for the annual May event.

Brown, 70, was arrested at his South Carolina home last week (28JAN04) on charges he pushed his 33-year-old wife TOMI RAE to the ground during a bedroom fight.

Despite the festival snub, city officials in Augusta are still planning to honour their singing son with a $40,000 (GBP22,200) bronze statue.
