With Spring Breakers making its debut at this week's Venice Film Festival all eyes have been on what the first reviewers thought of the James Franco starring flick, and the big news to report, according to assorted reviews, is that the actor who came to true fame in 2001 biopic James Dean and then shortly after the first of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films, sings along to a Britney Spears song.
So says The Hollywood Reporter anyway, whose writer says "At one point he sits poolside at a cheesy white grand piano and sings a Britney Spears ballad while three co-eds in Dtf pants and pink ski masks do an impromptu dance routine with Ak-47s." Intriguing. The song in question is apparently Everytime, Spears' 2004 single that was reportedly about her break up with JUSTIN TIMBERLAkE.
Franco apart, the film also stars Justin Bieber's girlfriend Selena Gomez, playing by far her most grown up and racy role in her career to date. Talking to the Chicago Tribune at the premiere, she'd said "I did things I didn't even know I could do on the movie and I do think it was because I trusted [director] Harmony [Korine]." Continuing, she added "I just didn't think I was ready for [racy roles in the past], and I do think that Faith is right for me at this time in my career and in my life."
