Movie veteran James Garner is still astounded by the success he's garnered on the big screen - because he only moved into acting to make "a few dollars".

The SPACE COWBOYS actor, 66, admits he still lacks the knowledge possessed by most movie stars of his generation, even though he's been a regular on film sets since his big screen debut in 1956's TOWARD THE UNKNOWN.

He says, "I didn't know anything then and I don't think I know anything now.

"I had no great expectations. I did it because I thought I could make a few dollars at it."
