Jason Statham will star in 'Fast & Furious 7'.

The 'Parker' actor will join the high octane franchise with a starring role in the next movie, according to series co-star Michelle Rodriguez.

The actress appeared to confirm Statham's casting while promoting the upcoming 'Fast & Furious 6', telling DesdeHollywood.com: ''Jason Statham, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson - when you see these guys in a room you know they belong together. You can see in their eyes that they have gone through a lot. I applaud Universal for getting him on board.''

It's not yet known which part the British star will play in the movie, but the report hints that Statham's character could be related to 'Fast & Furious 6' villain Owen Shaw, played by Luke Evans.

'Fast & Furious 7' is set to be rushed into production this summer for release in 2014 - just a year after the release of the latest installment.

It's thought star-and-producer Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson will all reprise their roles in the movie.

The flick will also have a new director following the departure of Justin Lin, who has overseen the last four films in the speed racing franchise.

'Saw' director James Wan has been confirmed to helm the next picture.
