Actress Jane Lynch didn't have to dig too deep to find her mean-spirited Glee character Sue Sylvester - she used to be just like that.
Now forever upbeat and happy, Lynch reveals past insecurities that were masked by a drinking problem turned her into a terrible person and it was only when she quit boozing almost 20 years ago that she realised what a vile woman she was - especially to people she worked with.
In a candid interview with Access Hollywood, the Glee star says, "It was so Psychology 101- I felt terrible inside and I projected it onto everybody else. I made everybody bad, wrong, I was kinda shaming and humiliating, not unlike Sue Sylvester.
"I wasn't a nice person to have around... It's fun to play the person who I used to be."
