Officials at the U.S. Supreme Court have refused to reinstate a fine against TV bosses over Janet Jackson's infamous wardrobe malfunction at the 2004 Super Bowl.
The Nasty superstar shocked viewers and her fellow performer Justin Timberlake when she exposed a bare breast during America's biggest sporting event of the year.
She and Timberlake subsequently apologised for the nipple slip, but bosses at decency watchdog the Federal Communications Commission (Fcc) ruled that wasn't enough - and fined the CBS network $550,000 (£344,000) for failing to properly censor the footage.
After a drawn-out legal battle, Supreme Court judges dismissed the agency's huge fine against Cbs, and Fcc representatives have been appealing the ruling ever since.
Their latest bid to have their case for reinstating the penalty heard was rejected on Friday (29Jun12).
