Warrant singer Jani Lane has been found dead.
The 80s rocker - best known for the band's hit 'Cherry Pie' - was found dead in a room at a Comfort Inn motel near Los Angeles last night (11.08.11), aged 47. The cause of death has yet to be determined.
Jani - who was born John Kennedy Oswald - had sung with Warrant since they formed in the early 80s and had written some of the band's biggest hits, including 'Down Boys', 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' and 1989 ballad 'Heaven'.
He left Warrant in 1993, only to rejoin the next year, before quitting again in 2004. Jani had appeared on US TV show 'Celebrity Fit Club' the following year, before rejoining the band in 2008, but left months later for good.
Jani had reportedly struggled with substance issues in recent years and had spent time in jail for drunk driving.
In a statement issued last year, he said: "My true Hope is that anyone out there dealing with personal problems- the consequences do not get lighter.
"I can only say I've never regretted a good decision or action and never been proud of bad ones. People have an astounding ability to forgive. I have to start with forgiving myself. That is something that I find far more difficult than I imagined. I think it starts with Gratitude."
According to website Billboard.com, Jani leaves behind third wife Kimberly and four children, Taylar, Brittany, Madison and Ryan.
