Superstitious Mad Men boss Matthew Weiner feared the show would miss out at the Emmy Awards as new mother January Jones was staying at home to look after her baby.
The TV series was one of the winners at Sunday night's (18Sep11) ceremony, scooping the best drama title for the fourth year in a row, but creator Weiner feared they would go home empty-handed as the cast stepped onto the red carpet without Jones, who gave birth to her son Xander last Tuesday (13Sep11).
He tells People, "Her baby had his fingers crossed (for us)... We had a horrible superstition that her not being here was bad for us."
Weiner also told E! Online that the new mum is doing well following the birth, adding, "She's doing great... I think it was a long labour... She is going to be welcomed with tremendous enthusiasm when she comes back (to the set)..."
