Cate Blanchett got a new tattoo to celebrate her Oscar win.

The 44-year-old actress was spotted leaving Shamrock Social Club tattoo studio in Los Angeles with her husband Andrew Upton and their friends Amy Adams and her fiancé Darren LeGallo on Monday (03.03.14) - the day after she picked up the Best Actress prize at this year's Academy Awards for her role in 'Blue Jasmine'.

Cate left the famous tattoo parlour in Hollywood - whose host of celebrity clients include Johnny Depp, Lady GaGa and One Direction's Harry Styles - with a black bandage wrapped around her wrist, the New York Post newspaper reports.

Darren, 39, also had a similar dressing wrapped around his upper forearm.

It remains unknown which designs the pair have chosen, with staff at the Shamrock Social Club declining to comment on their visit.

However, a post on their twitter account read: ''Congrats to our friends @JaredLeto and #CateBlanchett for your #Oscar wins! (sic)''

It is believed that the art work isn't Cate's first tattoo.

In a photograph from a past shoot with Dior Homme, the actress appears to show a hint of body art as she lifts her shirt.

Although, when previously asked if she had any tattoos, Cate simply replied: ''Oh, there you go.''
