British R&B star Jay Sean has left BRYAN 'BIRDMAN' WILLIAMS' Cash Money Records due to creative differences.

The singer signed to the U.S. firm in late 2008 and went on to score huge chart success with his hit single Down and its follow-up, Do You Remember, but he has now decided to part ways with Williams, aka Baby, and his brother and label co-founder Ronald 'Slim' Williams to pursue a new music direction.

Sean tells Billboard.com, "I had and still maintain a great relationship with Slim and Baby (Ceos of Cash Money). They believed in me and my talent and our partnership obviously garnered a lot of pop success.

"It got to the point where I was chasing pop success and 'the smash' when really my heart wasn't in it anymore. That's not why I got into this game."

Sean has since unveiled a new music video for his latest track, Tears in the Ocean, which will be released as part of the independent mixtape Mistress Ii next month (Nov14).
