Jay Z and Beyoncé have splashed out $2.6 million on a home in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The couple, who have three-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, have reportedly purchased an historic seven-bedroom, eight bathroom property, which used to be the Westminster Presbyterian Church, in the city's upmarket Garden District, according to E! News.

The Spanish Baroque estate was built in 1925 and features an open-concept design, with three separate apartments.

The 13,292 square-feet abode, which spans three floors, also boasts a luxurious master suite with an antique claw-foot bathtub and the biggest green rooftop deck in the city.

News that the duo, who recently moved from New York City to Los Angeles, have bought their own place in the city comes as no surprise, as Beyoncé's younger sister Solange Knowles, 28, has lived there part-time with her 10-year-old son, Julez, since 2013.

The 'Pretty Hurts' hitmaker and her husband are regular visitors to the city and hosted a star-studded private masquerade ball for her mother Tina Knowles' 60th birthday there last year.

Solange, who also held her wedding to Alan Ferguson there in November, previously revealed Beyoncé and Jay Z loved the city because locals gave them privacy.

She said: ''Even when they were there for Super Bowl, we went out to eat a lot and we stayed under the radar. People from New Orleans are extremely prideful. Even if they are kinda curious, they won't let you know.''
