Actress Jeanne Crain has died of a heart-attack at the age of 78.

OSCAR-nominated Crain, who appeared in almost 40 films, died on Sunday (14DEC03) at her home in California.

She was a leading star in the war and post-war years, with notable movies including Cheaper by the Dozen, PINKY - for which she received her ACADEMY AWARD nomination - and STATE FAIR.

She is survived by two sons and three daughters.
