Jennifer Lopez was left embarrassed after her appearance on Jay Leno this week, when the talk show host unearthed early footage of the singer working as a backup dancer for New Kids On The Block. Jennifer Lopez was promoting her new album 'Love?' on the show, when Leno suddenly turned the conversation around to her early years in the industry.
Leno then played footage of Lopez dancing enthusiastically behind the five-piece boy-band at the American Music Awards in 1991. New Kids On The Block were at the height of their fame at the time, but Lopez was a little known backing dancer working her first ever job in the US. The 41-year-old said, "My first job was in Europe which was a big deal and then when I came back I got a job as a backing dancer for the New Kids On The Block. I got this job dancing for them on the American Music Awards and it was a big deal. That was a long time ago". Lopez watched the footage with her face in her hands and screamed briefly looking up to see herself. The singer's new album went in at number-six in the UK chart this weekend, but she has only sold a reported 60,000 copies in the US. Her American chart position will be announced by Billboard later today (11th May 2011).
Jennifer Lopez will judge the final four contestants on tonight's American Idol, with Lauren Alaina, Haley Reinhart, Scotty Mccreery and James Durbin all looking to win the multi-million dollar recording contract.
