Jennifer Lopez paid tribute to Latin singer Selena in concert on Saturday (25Aug12) by performing one of the tragic star's best-loved songs.
The pop sensation landed her big break playing the title role in the 1997 biopic Selena, which chronicled the Texan singer's rise to fame before she was murdered aged 23 by the president of her fan club.
Lopez brought her tour to Texas over the weekend and treated the audience at Dallas' American Airlines Center to a moving rendition of Selena's ballad No Me Queda Mas, marking the first time she has covered the track live since the movie's release.
She later took to her official website to share video footage of the emotional performance with fans in a post entitled In Memory of Selena Quintanilla-Perez.
Lopez writes, "Over the weekend, we toured through Texas, the location where I filmed the movie Selena years ago. As a tribute to the late singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez and her home state, I performed her song No Me Queda Mas.
"She was such an inspiration to me, and I wanted to honor her memory. She taught me so much about how to handle the spotlight with grace and love. She taught me that a smile says so much more than a thousand words."
