Jenny McCarthy rejected the chance to return to 'The View'.

The 42-year-old star co-hosted one series of the ABC talk show from 2013 but left in early 2014, but she and her husband, New Kids on the Block star Donnie Wahlberg, have revealed she was offered the opportunity to return within six months of leaving.

Donnie said: ''She's very gracious about 'The View' and I told her the day that she left, I said they're going to ask you back within six months.

''She won't say it, but they did. Not officially, but they did.''

Jenny was initially coy about the issue, but eventually confessed she has been approached about a return.

She told Howard Stern on his SiriusXm radio show: ''One of the producers called and said, would I ever consider it? And I said, 'No, thank you, because I couldn't be me.' ''

Meanwhile, a source has told the New York Post newspaper that ABC executives have blocked Whoopi Goldberg from quitting the show to pursue another opportunity, following the departure of Rosie O'Donnell, and Jenny suggested the floundering programme may not last too much longer.

The former Playboy model said: ''I think they might try one more year, then I think the Titanic might go down.''
