Actor Jeremy Piven recreated a former cocaine hell to play a drug-abusing Las Vegas cabaret star in new movie SMOKIN' ACES. The ENTOURAGE star didn't have to look far to find inspiration for his coked-up character BUDDY 'ACES' ISRAEL in the new movie. He reveals, "I can tap into that and go back into that place, which is a very dark place... It's an honour to go back to that place. "Back in the day, I did dabble. I'm not running for office so I can say that. I think artists are sensitive people. That was a very intense visceral moment even just trying certain substances (in the scene) that I remember very clearly. "I sat there with (director) Joe Carnahan and we had similar experiences and Joe said, 'Do you want to go deep?' and that's what you wait for your entire life as an actor. "I don't think you have to be so method that you destroy yourself. I think you can go to those dark places and still be healthy." But Piven insists his druggie portrayal is just for show in the movie and he's a very healthy individual in real life. He adds, "I'm really healthy right now and I have been for a long time. I don't even eat red meat or dairy products. Espresso is the deepest I'll go as far as getting amped up."
