Jeremy Renner has dismissed rumours suggesting he is set to step into Tom Cruise's shoes and lead the Mission: Impossible film franchise, insisting "there's no taking over" from the movie superstar.
The Hurt Locker actor appears alongside leading man Cruise in the new sequel, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, and he has been touted to front future installments of the film series if the Hollywood star ever steps down.
But the Oscar nominee, who recently replaced Matt Damon as the star of the Bourne franchise, insists it's not a job he's interested in.
Addressing the reports, Renner tells Reuters, "I heard that. I hear lots of rumours... No, it's not true about Mission: Impossible. There's no taking over. It's not happening."
