Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino has been offered money to stop wearing Abercrombie & Fitch clothes.

The 29-year-old 'Jersey Shore' star - who is regularly seen in the brand - has been asked by the retailer to desist because it could be "distressing" to its fanbase.

The company said in a statement: "We are deeply concerned that Mr Sorrentino's association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image.

"We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans."

They have also offered payment to others in the show - which regularly features cast members including Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi and Pauly D drunk and partying - to stop wearing their clothes.

The release went on: "We have also extended this offer to other members of the cast, and are urgently waiting a response."
