Biel Happy Not To Join In The Hunt
Jessica Biel was secretly glad to learn she couldn't ride a motorcycle in a movie fox hunt on the set of EASY VIRTUE - because she detests bloodsports.
Insurance bosses refused to allow the actress to actually ride in the hoax hunt - alongside horses and hounds - and so she had to ride a stationary bike for her close-ups as her double took off across rural England.
Biel reveals, "We faked it. I was shot in close-up sitting on a stationary bike and then they had a double ride. They didn't get the insurance for me to ride the bike, which happens all the time.
"I never really get to do all the fun stuff. I would've wanted to ride but I'm not really a fan of the fox hunt. It's not really what I'm into; I don't really want to shoot (sic) animals like that."
Her movie husband Ben Barnes wasn't quite so lucky - he insists director Stephan Elliott made him ride a horse, despite the fact insurance bosses wouldn't let him.
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian star tells WENN, "I'm happy to say that I've never been on a traditional hunt, nor do I think I ever would, but this particular hunt in the film was on the very last day of shooting. Jessica had gone home, Kristin Scott Thomas didn't ride horses and Colin Firth's character wasn't involved in the hunt at all, so, basically, I was the only person left on set riding this horse because I had experience riding horses with the Narnia films.
"So Stephan Elliott was basically begging me to get onto this horse because, otherwise, he was gonna have to mix and match a selection of computer-generated shots and faraway shots of stuntmen riding horses."
But the idea almost landed Elliott in big trouble and Barnes in hospital: "I got on the horse, having prided myself on never having fallen off a horse during the seven months of making Narnia, and the very first take of this particular shot there was a huge ditch in the field and the horse just bucked me off the back. I turned around to see 40 or 50 huntsmen and women coming at me at full speed on horseback, so I sort of just threw myself out of the way and you could just hear producers running over and going, 'Noooo!'"
