Jessica Simpson is the latest celebrity to be shortlisted for the vacancy on American Idol's judging panel and has reportedly had "several meetings" with TV bosses already.
The blonde's arrival on the hit show will follow the departure of the music mogul at the end of the latest series.
According to gossip website TMZ, there is said to be "mutual interest" in the 29-year-old star joining the panel.
A source added to Life and Style magazine: "They like her - she's a good fit - and she likes it. Now it's just a question of how to fit her in."
Earlier this week, SIR Elton John and Justin Timberlake were being touted as the two men 'American Idol' founder Simon Fuller favoured to replace music mogul Simon when the seventh series starts later this year.
Fuller - who started 'Pop Idol' back in Britain in 2001 - is also hoping new changes on the show will also include Nigel Lythgoe rejoining the production team.
Insiders believe the arrival of Nigel could mean members of the judging panel - consisting OF KARA DIOGUARDI, Randy Jackson and Ellen Degeneres - could be completely changed, meaning they are looking at more than one replacement.
Lindsay Lohan and Madonna have also been reported to be up for the role.
