Mandy Moore felt confident in her custom-made CFDA dress.

The 'A Walk To Remember' wore a cream Lela Rose gown to the Cfda Fashion Awards in New York on Monday (04.06.12) and says it was a privilege to put it on.

Mandy, 28, told PEOPLE magazine: ''I was so taken by the short version of this dress on the runway, and was so excited that they custom-made me a long version for the event.

''I love the juxtaposition of the soft white draping and the hard edge of the metal-and pearl-encrusted shoulders! I'm all about a strong shoulder right now - it feels confident.''

Designer Lela approached Mandy about a collaboration in April, and the design was inspired by one of Lela's Spring 2012 looks. Lela, whose clients include Jessica Simpson and Selma Blair, commented: ''Dressing Mandy is always a fun experience. Not only is she stunning but such a genuine and lovely person.

''The custom gown I made for her to wear, with its clean lines and bold embellishments, will so wonderfully complement both her inner and outer beauty.''

The dress was a perfect match and the singer only required one fitting the day before the awards ceremony.

Mandy - who wed singer Ryan Adams in 2009 - made her own foray into fashion in 2005 with her knitwear line, Mblem.
