New mum Jessica Simpson forced herself to kickstart her post-pregnancy weightloss programme after catching sight of her naked, heavy frame in the mirror.
The singer recently admitted to packing on the pounds while pregnant with her baby daughter Maxwell because she wanted to enjoy her first pregnancy, but getting back into shape after giving birth in May (12) hasn't been an easy task.
Simpson subsequently signed up as the new spokesmodel for diet plan WeightWatchers and has since lost 40 pounds (18 kilograms), debuting her slimmer figure on U.S. TV on Monday (10Sep12).
However, the star reveals her biggest motivation to lose the extra weight came after seeing the naked truth for herself as she no longer wanted to be targeted by gossip columnists.
She tells U.S. news show Access Hollywood, "The easiest way to get motivated is to strip naked and look in the mirror. It's not fun to be talked about. It's not fun to be judged."
But despite her slim down, Simpson admits attending the weekly WeightWatchers meetings to track her progress was a daunting task.
She says, "The very first time I got on the scale in my WeightWatchers meeting, my heart was pounding because I had no idea how much I weighed. I was always the girl who stood on the scale backwards because I didn't want to face it."
