Sexy singer Jessica Simpson understood the cost of fame at an early age - when jealous peers relentlessly bullied her at school for securing a record contract at the age of 13.

The 24-year-old suffered vicious comments and attacks at her family home, but believes the experience has prepared her for her celebrity status, following the massive success of her hit MTV reality show Newlyweds: NICK AND JESSICA, which she stars in with husband Nick Lachey.

Simpson says, "I would walk down the school halls and hear people talking about me. Some of them would throw toilet paper at my house or throw eggs at my door.

"They would also write things on the sidewalk in permanent marker. They really hated me.

"It could have been because they thought I'd lied about getting a recording contract when I was 13 - I did actually get a deal at 13 but the album I recorded never came out because the label went under.

"They thought I'd made it up so made my life tricky for a while."
