Jim Sturgess isn't surprised by Anne Hathaway's 'Les Miserables' success.

When the pair worked together on 2011's 'One Day' Anne used to constantly sing theatrical songs on set and Jim is thrilled she has gone on to receive an Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for her role in the big screen adaptation of the musical.

Speaking at the gala screening of 'Cloud Atlas' at the Curzon Mayfair Cinema in London on Monday (02.18.13), Jim told BANG Showbiz: ''I haven't seen 'Les Miserables' yet. I've been so busy that I haven't had a chance to see it. But I know how much she loves singing. When we were shooting the film 'One Day' she was always breaking out into theatrical songs. So I was already pretty sure that shed be able to pull it off.

''I'm just so pleased for her. There are a few people that I know in that film so I'm just so pleased for them that it's going well.''

Meanwhile, Jim's 'Cloud Atlas' co-star Jim Broadbent is tipping 'Silver Linings Playbook' star Jennifer Lawrence for the Best Actress gong.

He said: ''There are some great performances this year. I have voted but it's a secret ballot. If you name one you're always missing someone else out! But I do think Jennifer Lawrence has got a great chance.''

He also admitted he was shocked 'Cloud Atlas' didn't receive an Oscars nod.

He explained: ''Yes. I was shocked really. It must have been the timing, what it came out alongside. I was very surprised because I think its as remarkable or more remarkable than any other film this year. It should have been there. You never know what the reasons behind these things are sometimes.''
