Legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix has been brought back to life in doll form.

The estate of the Purple Haze rocker, who died in 1970 from drug-related complications, has teamed up with McFARLANE TOYS to produce an action figure of the star, which is due to hit stores next month on 27 November (03) - which would have been Hendrix's 61st birthday.

McFarlane, which has also created toys honouring Jerry Garcia and Ozzy OSBOURNE, based the new Hendrix doll on his performance at 1969's legendary WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL.

The six-inch figure, to be sold by music retailers and select toy stores, is dressed in a white fringed vest, blue velvet trousers and scarves tied around its head and one leg.

In addition to accessories including a guitar, amplifiers, guitar pedals, microphone and stand, Hendrix's plastic likeness is shown in front of a section of a concert stage flashing the peace sign.

Prices for the doll will range from $12 (GBP7.50) to $20 (GBP12.50).
