Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff has been awarded Jamaica's ORDER OF MERIT for his contribution to film and music.

After picking up the prize, one of the Caribbean country's highest honour's, the 55-year-old said, "It's great to be appreciated by your own."

Cliff - real name JAMES CHAMBERS - is famous for a catalogue of reggae classics including, YOU CAN GET IT IF YOU REALLY WANT, MANY RIVERS TO CROSS and The Harder They Come, which was also a hit film for the star.
