Veteran rocker Luke Haines dropped a song about controversial British Tv host Sir Jimmy Savile from his new album after it emerged the late presenter was a serial paedophile.

The former Auteurs frontman teamed up with Irish singer-songwriter Cathal Coughlan and journalist Andrew Mueller for his new record, The North Sea Scrolls.

However, the trio was left scrambling to re-arrange the album's tracklisting when Savile was unmasked as a sex offender just weeks before the project was due for release.

Haines tells music website Noisey.vice.com, "We didn't have to (drop it). We chose to drop a song about Sir Jim. The whole thing was written before his death. We didn't particularly want to wade into the Savile circus."

Savile died in 2011 at the age of 84, but last year (12) several women came forward to allege he had abused them during his time working at the Bbc. A police inquiry was launched in the wake of further allegations against the late star, and earlier this month (Jan13) officials concluded Savile had abused 450 victims, including 30 children, and branded him "one of the most prolific sex offenders" in British history.
