Joe Manganiello is a candidate to play Deathstroke in 'Suicide Squad'.

The 38-year-old hunk, who played Flash Thompson in the original 'Spider-Man' film series and also appeared in the 2012 hit 'Magic Mike', is being lined-up for the role of Slade Wilson - who's also known as Deathstroke - in the eagerly-awaited new movie, Cinema Blend reports.

Over the last few months, a number of high-profile performers have been attached to the film, including Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto as Deadshot, Harley Quinn and The Joker respectively.

However, with shooting expected to start later this month, the part of Deathstroke remains officially unfilled.

Meanwhile, Will Smith recently insisted that details of 'Suicide Squad' will remain a closely-guarded secret.

The 46-year-old star confirmed he was busy preparing for his part, but insisted that he's not able to reveal any information about the film before its release.

Asked whether he could discuss the 'Suicide Squad' movie, Will said: ''No sir, I'd have to kill you. It's top secret but it's really good, though. It's great stuff, fantastic. I'm already in shape for it, I'm already training.''
