Singer/songwriter John Legend is set to tap into his personal experiences of the music industry for a new U.S. Tv series.

The Get Lifted hitmaker has teamed with producer/director Tony Krantz to develop and executive produce a drama called Down Lo, which will explore the interaction of music, sports and fashion stars in the area of South Beach in Miami, Florida.

The series deals with secrets and fame told from several different points of view, and one of the stories featured will be that of a fictional gay rapper struggling to deal with his sexuality in a homophobic hip-hop community.

Down Lo will be made for American network HBO, according to Deadline.com.
