John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono has begged New York parole chiefs not to release the late beatle's murderer Mark Chapman, next week (begs04OCT04).

Crazed fan Chapman, 49, has served 24 years for killing Lennon outside his Manhattan home on 8 December 1980 - and he's due at a parole hearing in the week beginning 4 October (04).

Officials say the hearing will be held behind closed doors and insist they have no idea what the outcome will be - but Ono has vowed to do everything in her power to keep him behind bars.
