John Mayer expects to be shunned by Taylor Swift at the Grammy Awards.

The 37-year-old singer - who is said to be currently dating Katy Perry, but was previously seeing the 'Shake It Off' hitmaker - has revealed his plan for the event.

Speaking about the upcoming Grammy Awards during his opening monologue on 'The Late Late Show' on CBS, he joked: ''You can see me at the Grammy Awards doing what I do best. Being avoided by Taylor Swift.''

Meanwhile, John has praised Katy Perry's performance during the Super Bowl half-time show last weekend.

He said critics have bestowed praise on Katy's backing dancers, who dressed in shark outfits, because they are too embarrassed to admit they enjoyed the performance.

John said: ''It was unbelievable. And I think the whole thing about the sharks, everybody wants to talk about the sharks because it's just something everyone can grab onto because not everyone feels comfortable walking around saying that Katy Perry was amazing.

''So they use the sharks as kind of, 'Guys, love the sharks.' It's like, you have nothing bad to say about the performance, do you? 'No, I don't.' Because if they did, you'd hear about it... She made the internet a kind, gentle place for a day. It was awesome.''
